Echoes of the Day Album:
THERE ON THE LINE
every now and then I'm satisfied
just to know that our love has survived
you can run but there's no place to hide
you can't run when it's there on the line
still i long for the moon and the stars to shine
somehow I'll find the right words to say
lying still at the end of the day
what I've learned is that love makes you strong
what I've lost can never be found
still I long for the moon and the stars to shine
someday I'll lose this feeling I have
of the fear that I've failed you somehow
you can't run you can't hide it from me
you can't run when it's there on the line
still I long for the moon and the stars to shine
every now and then I'm satisfied
just to know that out love has survived
you can't run you can't hid what you feel
you can run but you'll never be free
still I long for the moon and the stars to shine
CONTEMPLATE THE CAREFREE DAY
flash of lightning
through a haze
sunlight in the shadows
contemplate the carefree day
reflected on the water
against the sky
it reappears
atmospheric wonder
all the colours turn to grey
vanishing before you
and gales of passion
running wild
cherish waht they give you
now that you have come this far
take your time to answer
a life imagined
beyond here
becomes the life you'll live by
the river raked by common need
still in me the morning
and it was calm
before the rain
cloudless sky unending
the fear that this will somehow turn
wrest in me the morning
and contemplate the carefree day
dissolving into shadow light
all the colours turn to grey
vanishing before you
-
contemplate the carefree day
BREAKABLE STARS
straight ahead
above the sky
into the darkest
night I've known
near the far side
of tomorrow
breakable stars
this will be
a song of praise
where in the darkness
I lost hope
no one around me
to give me comfort
breakable stars
upon the sea evening fell
into the darkest
night I've known
while all around me
leaves are falling
breakable stars
straight ahead
above the sky
oh birth of wonder
heaven's claim
once behine me
now above me
breakable stars
IN THIS DISAPPEARING LIGHT
in this disappearing light
veil of sadness over me
darkness fills my room
patiently I wait for you
in this disappearing light
under transcendental skies
see the people on the street
patiently they wait for rain
chorus
still I wonder where the time has gone
and how this distance came to you
I wonder how it all went wrong
when I look into your eyes
I begin to realize a loneliness remains
it's not your love I'm looking for
it's the purity of light
the solitude of dreams
patiently I wait for you
the world is spinning on and on
people dancing in the streets
walking hand in hand
everything remains the same
repeat chorus
the world keeps spinning on and on
most are longing few have won
still they're dancing in the street
patiently they wait for rain
under transcendental skies
see the people turn away
walking hand in hand
everything remains the same

in this disappearing light
AFTER THE STORM
i guess they knew that they were right
they saw it coming in full flight
the sign out on the highway read
be prepared for something to go down
there's something that's still burning in the air
after the storm
the scent of burning filled the air
the honeysuckle grew like weeds
the evening train's arriving
pulled into the station right on time
and if you see me coming down the road
say hello
everything still looks the same
the streets are clean after the rain
all along the boulevard
the violets bloom all summer long
there's something that's still burning in the air
after the storm
I held her hand when we were young
she's married now and lives in town
every spring I'd call her up
take her to the river near the falls
we'd return before the day was through
hail the night
I was a child whe things got rough
my father finally had enough
he told us he was highway bound
turned and waved but never said goodbye
my mother vowed she'd never be the same
and she was right
I got throught the hardest times
I finished school and got a job
the sign out on the highway read
be prepared for something to go down
and if you see me walking down the road
wave goodbye
my life's unfolding as it should
times are hard they could get worse
I choose to look at life this way
everything just happens without rhyme
and when the sun is rising in the east
take it in
I guess they knew that they were right
they saw it coming in full flight
nothing happens to you
that doesn't happen to us all
there's something that's still burning in the air
after the storm
ODE TO BOBBY COOK
everyday is emptiness inside a dream
of walking out and standing a free man
and every night is spent looking back to see
a lonely world that you don't understand
chorus
hang your head Bobby
you know your time has come
nobody's listening
and there's no place to run
sell your dreams for pennies
and give up what you've won
it's too late to change
what's already been done
a sudden glare of starlight on the northern sky
take the light of day before it's gone
fate can change and rearrange
your hopes and dreams
leave you looking coldly at the dawn
repeat chorus
what has been the reason for the loss of this
soon becomes the reason for the fall
every night in question looking back to see
a broken world that you can't understand
repeat chorus
ECHOES OF THE DAY
the unknown world is waking
some hope remains
the colours on the water
are just echoes of the day
I'll hold on to your wisdom
and let go of this dream
I'll reach out for what I have
just to find some joy within
chorus
I don't know why you
would want me this way
I don't know why you
could love me this way
the autumn leaves are falling
upon my soul
between the light and shadow
lay the sweetness of the day
I'll hold on to your wisdom
and let go of this dream
I'll reach out for what I have
just to find that joy within
repeat chorus
the harvest moon lay silent
upon the bay
between the rain and evening
lay the motionless day
I'll hold on to your wisdom
and let go of this dream
I'll reach out for what I have
just to find some joy within
repeat chorus
